An ode to Christ

Nestled far and far away
is a place I often stray
where my secrets lay
and my Beloved waits
and I spend all day with Him

The sun, my Beloved, though high above
can cause the roses to waken and stir
but does it like You, do this;
Your name is glorious
a rose by name a fragrant trail
leaves scent to arouse the mind to begin
Yes, her colour sweet robust,
red lipped, curls and opens its bud and silky skin
to tempt the thirsty to taste her lips
and drink sweet wine so slowly

The taste I have begun to contemplate
Rose-her colour so unremarkable and not so temperate
not quite as You sweet Lover God
For You, my beloved
sweet Rose, her pride bruised with envy
lips failing to part protest but her eyes revealing
the self confessed awe in You

Sweet Master, Your name is a splendid tune
a choir, a dance and a melodious croon
whose eyes sum the warmth of summer days
whose sighs bewilders the sweetened breeze
can cause the hours to haste,
Your Majesty

I daresay O King
Your crown so gloriously sit
above Your throne of golden thread
no seamstress can spin

Why dear Lord,
Your beauty delights my soul
and yet I cry for bittersweet sorrow
for I know You near
You dwell within my blood, my veins and very skin!
Yet-Lover God- Yet!
Irony is cruel
for near You are and yet somehow still far!
before I feel Your arms robe me
My soul will never be satisfied

I confess sweet Love,
with knees adore
I worship You alone
for all in all and ever more

To have You hold me
tilt my head one side
and still my seas of storm-subside!
To unlock what I most desire and yet
I hide-to pluck sweet tender peaches, berries and cream
which none so sweet as -therein
Your lips hide the sweetest wine cupped so carefully

O Lord I beg You, tip the chalice!
so that I may taste Your sweet wine
so then set my soul to rest in eternal bliss
to have You and finally have that kiss!
