faith o faith
O phantom light
thou dwindle in the dark
like a frail and unshielded child
whose flesh is weak and eyes etched with precocious care
o faith o faith wherefore thy name declared
I was told it would withstand the most difficult adversities
O faith o faith
thy bud of spring too late to bloom
hath thou been prophesied the coming of hopelessness and doom?
would I find thee O faith o faith
when mine feet would carry me to
angels from Heaven with artillery which is made from God's Holy words,
would I find thee white with Holiness and Chastity
that I would find thee shining bright like the candle of day?

O faith O faith
I search for thee
like a woman her coin
like a shepherd a lost sheep
like a father his prodigal son
O what is faith O faith of faith
should faith be grown and sown without trials and persecution?
nay!

I gladly drank thy bitter wine O adversity
and thou hath gladly leaned close to offer me more from the folds, the brook of thine lips
and find seduction succumb unto mine sinful flesh

O vanity of vanities
O faith of faith I find
my soul is quite misled and my eyes are shadowed with blind

O faith thy name
thou I heard like remedy like gossamer like bandage
and thou art echoing proverb from age to age
and thou would burn the faithless and light the candles and dispel all darkness...

O faith of faith
I find thee standing at the gate
lips full brimmed with gladness
delighted in wine
satisfied with bread
dipped within and sanctified with words
from thy Master

O faith o faith
Thou art far more splendorous than sonnets strummed from the vines of the most persevered vineyards
far more ravishing than the most desirable treasures on earth
O faith o faith
Thou await for man like a lover does his wife
And I see in thine eyes fields of gold
and spring unfold
and mold in great beauty
and in thine eyes I see the Master whose wonders never cease to amaze me

O faith O faith
phantom light
thou dwell in my spirit shielded from sight
thou art wielded in matters stronger than iron and steel
withstanding the fires of the abyss
withstanding all of this
thou indeed art a weapon of God
O faith o faith
Will I find thee sown firm in the soils of my spirit and soul
when my Master returns?
Will salvation fill my mortal urn
or will I simply fester away?
Only faith O faith
would I rely
on thee to and the spirit Divine
to guide a sorry sinner like me

O faith o faith cease never to shine on me
and bring great light unto my already dampened wick
O faith o faith...will I find thee with me standing at the gate
to gaze upon my beloved's eyes....
then forever gaze upon ye o faith o faith
in my Beloved's eyes...
